DecorActive formed part of the 2006-2007
HSBC Young Enterprise
programme in
Malta. It
consisted of a group of 13
Junior College Students
all in their adolescent years.
The company which was founded by
these youngsters firstly started off with a Key and Letter holder
however, it didn’t sell for them. With the bit of knowledge they
had just learnt at their first weeks at college they performed
market research once again and it was then when this company opted
for the 'Mobile Accessories' to be their primary product. Namely
‘Mobile charms’ and ‘Mobile Socks’. They also were re-sellers of
Mother of Pearl earrings and bracelets ranging from a large variety
mostly for the younger generation like themselves.
DecorActive
opted to add a Motto to their company name. This took the form as
"DECISIVE & AMBITIOUS". The company said that they had chosen
that motto because they believed that those attributes were needed
to keep their business going. A representative of DecorActive said
that
‘A company that is decisive and ambitious in everything
they do whether it be internally or externally should always be
encouraged to move on and progress even in hard times’The
company
liquidized on 17th May during their company
Annual General Meeting which taught them the basis of organizing
such events. The company is now taking part in National Final
Presentation where they are hoping for the
best.
Stands
Through the course of their company life,
DecorActive put up stands around Malta and even set-up stands in
foreign countries. The company set these stands up so as to
integrate within the Maltese society further and serve as an
inspiration to youngsters who maybe had second thoughts to take on
such challenges.
The company set-up stands namely at:
Junior College – The school campus which the
members attended for two years. Sports Marathon,
Junior College – in which the company took part in an
overnight activity for a charitable organisation.
Bergamo, Italy – a display stand was
set-up Plaza, Sliema
Baystreet City Gate,
Valletta – here the company took part in a two day fair
held by the Maltese Young Enterprise office
Kraków, Poland – a display
stand was set-up here tooCharity
The company worked
hard throughout their one year operation. They offered a sum of
their profits to a charitable organisation and to add to their feat
the young company also set-up a stand in which a large amount of
profit went to ‘Id-Dar Tal-Providenza’ which is one of the few
charitable organisations still existing here in Malta.
When
asked to comment, one of the team members said
‘The team is
aware of such poverty around the world and that is why we felt the
urge to work closely with 'Dar tal-Providenza' and other charitable
organisations’Clearly, the team wanted to help the Maltese
society and this was one of the many ways in which this company did
help and didn’t just plan and say things and ended up doing
nothing. This made them different. However, it wasn’t plain
sailing. The company overcame some tough situations to be able to
help the society.
National Exposure
The company were also
present on the popular maltese show
Xarabank on 11th May 2007 and Pjazza
tar-Raħal on 13th May respectively.<ref>

==Gone Green
Gone Green
Following 10th May environmental disaster where 3000 trees were
vandalised in the area under the Red Tower (
Mellieħa) known as 'Foresta 2000' in
Malta
All members at DecorActive took it seriously and began
thinking of possible ways and methods to contribute. This would
leave an impact on the environment in the future and we are the
future! With the decline in natural sites due to illegal rubbish
dumps, buildings and pollution, DecorActive felt the urge to
contribute.
The company wanted to act fast and with impact like
the many other Maltese who decided to do the same. DecorActive
representatives immediately got into contact with the ‘34u’
campaign organisation where they ordered a tree to be planted in
the name of our company. In fact, on the 12th May, members from the
company went to Kennedy Grove – Salina, where they planted a tree
together with many other children, parents, local council members
and Ministers. They all went there with one main scope- to help the
environment, act against vandalism on nature and to better our
future.
The contribute might seem small compared to those who
donated large sums of money, yet one must keep in mind that The
company is formed by just thirteen Junior College students and of
course the funds are limited.
DecorActive thus can be seen as
an inspiration to all those students who want to protect
environment.
