Delhi Bible Fellowship (http://www.dbfgurgaon.com) is one of the pioneering churches in the city of Gurgaon. Started in the year 1999, our strength lies in our belief in the unity of the family and the empowerment of the individual.



A Brief History of DBF, Gurgaon
The past six years.

• October 3, 1999– Inaugural Service, at ICCC in New Palam Vihar.

• December 25, 1999– Faced with major opposition.

• The result: The congregation shifted to a centrally and strategically located area, HUDA Gymkhana Club in February 2000.

• June 2000– The ladies monthly meeting began.

• May 2001– The timing of the Sunday service changed from evening to morning service.

• February 2002– An official application was submitted to HUDA for a church land.

• Took a major lead in the Festival of Peace 2002- Gurgaon, sponsored by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

• November 2002– Prayer Breakfast began.

• November 10, 2002– First baptism was organized.

• August 17, 2003– Certificate of allotment for the church land received directly from the Haryana Chief Minister.

• December 2003– Organized a large Christmas Outreach & Carol Service with the help of HUDA Gymkhana Club.

• January 2004– Family Life Ministry began.

• January 12, 2004– Pastor and family were protected from a severe accident while going to Chandigarh to obtain the zoning map for the church land.

• March 17, 2004– Zoning map was approved and a copy was given to us.

• April 16, 2004– Youth Worship began.

June 6, 2004– Evening Service was discontinued in view of giving full attention to the Youth Worship.

April 2004 – Presented the first self-supporting financial budget to the DBF Board.

May 2004 – DBF Board acknowledged extraordinary growth and the potentiality of the congregation and allowed one Board member to be nominated to represent the congregation. This is six months ahead of the scheduled time.

January 2005 – Family Life Ministry introduced. Declared Every Monday evening is set apart as the “family evening” with a periodical “Family Night” with the theme of Fun-Food-Fellowship.

March 2005 – The allotment letter for the church land was issued.

September 2005 – Appointed the contractor to build the church in Gurgaon.

November 2005 – HUDA allowed us finally to take charge of the church land physically.

December 2005 – It was a season of joy and sharing. Organized three outdoor evangelistic Christmas outreaches in two different big Market places in Gurgaon and one in the City’s famous DT Mega Mall. Also, distributed 135 new blackest to poor people in Gurgaon.

DBF Gurgaon today

A close knit family of around 85 members, we meet in a rented hall at the HUDA Gymkhana Club in Gurgaon every Sunday morning at 9 am. Pastored by the energetic Rev. Thayil John, DBF Gurgaon is a rapidly growing church.

Always ready to embrace new and better ways to enhance the Lord's ministry, Rev. John's enthusiasm is as infectious as his laughter. Partnered by his ever-supportive wife Rosy, who balances her professional life with her work in the church activities. They are leaders who believe in putting words into action.

Our weekly activities range from the deeply spiritual bible studies to the outrageously fun Family Night!

We have several weekly bible studies all across the city, in both Hindi and English. We have special monthly fellowships for ladies and gents respectively. And starting soon is a meeting exclusively for couples!

For the young, we have Sunday School, the Teens group and Young Adults group. Competitions, quizzes, outreach ministries, visits to missionary fields, sports days...... there is never a dull moment with the youngsters around. Armed with the knowledge of God's word and filled with the Holy Spirit, they are ever-ready to take the Good News into the world.

As a church, we have always believed in the warmth of the family and the empowerment of the individual. Our faith is firmly rooted in the Word of God, and no work is commenced without the shadow of prayer upon it. ...holding forth the word of life

Regular Eminent Speakers at Sunday services

(1) Anand Pillai, HCL Vice-president and a member of our own congregation, an eminent speaker both in the corporate and spiritual world; A regular lecturer at Haggai Institute of Advanced Leadership, both in Hawaii (US) and Singapore. Speaks once Sunday a month.

(2) Miss. Sheila Massey, an eminent International Conference speaker, WINN India National Director, and International Representative of "International Needs." Sheila is a founding member of DBF.

(3) Rev. Gerry Longjohn (USA), Most of his life-span spent as a TEAM Missionary/Pastor/Church Planter in the Middle East, Pakisthan, India and now serves as TEAM India Representative in the US.

(4) Pastor George Samuel, the Ministry Director for TEAM India and pastor of Jhansi Bible Fellowship.

(5) Dr. Christopher David, served as the National Coordinator for Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in India till December 2005 and since January 2006 Heads the DAVID'S SLING SEMINARS in India.

(6) Dr. (Rev) Sukhwant Singh Bhatia, A former Pastor of DBF for seven years at South Delhi Vikram Congregation, now serves as the Academic Dean of SAIACS, Bangalore.

Sunday Worship Service

We are not a strict single denomination church, but believe in accommodating and converging different kinds of worship styles into one single worship. Being multi-denominational is what makes us different. Of course we do strongly believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the Bible is written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, amongst the other spiritual truths in the Bible.

Hindi Service

The Hindi service, started last year due growing demand from those within us. The service at present branches of mid-way during the English service.

Sunday School

Children are our tomorrow and a blessing from the Lord most high. Jesus told his disciples not to stop them from coming to Him. How can we? So we have our responsibility to teach our children about the love and walk of Christ.

Teens 4 Jesus – Youth Fellowship

Too old for Sunday school? Too young to be with the elders? We have the solution. Join the Teens 4 Jesus Club to have a fun good learning to walk with the Lord. Its going to help you face these challenges of growing up, the fun way for sure.

Young Adults Fellowship
What's a worship service without the adults still too young to face the monotony of the ‘elders’? Charged with the Holy Spirit and always on the move, our young adults meet every Sunday. If they aren't out doing an outreach programme or studying the Word, they are for sure having a barbeque or just having fun. Wanna know more? Meet us.

Music Worship
We believe music is an important and an indispensible part of christian living just as much as it is of a growing and a Spirit-filled church. It is music that stirs the soul and leaves us craving for more. And ofcourse there is no better way of expressing our thanks and praises to our God Eternal.

Qualification: A heart for worship!

Prayer BreakfastCorporate prayer is the need of the day. We know that a family that does not pray together seldom stays together. And so for the family of Christ. We have realised the importance and power of corporate prayer in our daily lives as we work with the children of the world. And so to enhance a victorious life in Christ, Prayer Breakfast happened.

We do not deny the importance of physical food ; ) and so breakfast is provided.
