Delz (aka
DeLuZiOn aka
Kidpac) is a
Serbian born
rapper who resides in
New York, USA. He is known for his outspoken
and progressive views on issues such as the
Holocaust, race relations, the
'
gaydar',
liberals and
slavery. A staunch iron-fisted
conservative, Delz stands
out from the
hip-hop
scene (and the
punk scene that
he has recently tried to infiltrate) as being, as critics put it,
"backwards,
illiterate, and
racist".
Early Career
Delz began his career
on the notorious
B-Boys.com (now known as
Project Rhyme), under the
moniker
Kidpac (Delz once
described all children of
hip-hop as being "
Tupac's children"). He began
netceeing but found that his true niche lay
in
biting (
biting in
hip-hop refering to stealing (or 're-using') rhymes
that other
rappers have
without telling anyone). Delz found that he was winning battle
after battle, but somehow it lacked the 'realness' that is so
important in
hip-hop.
Delz retired from
netceeing and took some time out to go back to
Serbia, somewhere he
hadn't been since his early childhood.
Serbia
Kidpac, a lifetime supporter of
Slobodan Milošević, came back
to his homeland to find that it wasn't what he had left it to be.
He saw, as he would later refer to it in the song '
My Struggle': "A wartorn
country/No mum left to hug me/Strap my gat incase niggas try to
jump me". Disgusted at the way
NATO had handled their "peace keeping",
Kidpac threw down his old name and
adopted
DeLuZiOn
(later to be shortened to just Delz). '
My Struggle' also highlighted the issue of
his name change: "Kidpac died with all the Serb
Nationalists/I blame Muslim
women, I'd slap a brown bitch".
Holocaust Denial
Upon
coming back to America, Delz was unrelenting. He won a
record
contract from a
radio show competition and just recorded track after track
of anguish. He wanted the world to know what Delz knew.
Liberals,
left-wingers,
civil rights activists and
intellectuals were offended greatly with some
of the more extreme things Delz had to say (from quoting
Hitler to outright
Holocaust
denial (Delz has since stated that he is not a
Nazi sympathiser though)), but Delz found
that the overall message and what he "brings to the table" is far
more important than worrying about "offending some people".
The
ACLU (
American Civil Liberties
Union) and the
ADL
(
Anti-Defamation League) tried to get
radio
stations to not play any of Delz's tracks and picketed for
record
stores to not stock them. It seemed, however, that these
organisations had seen Delz to be a much bigger threat than he was,
as most places weren't stocking or playing Delz's tracks on their
own accord. It seemed that the critics (or "haterz" as Delz would
later label them) found that Delz had no actual abilities or
rapping skills. Delz never considered this to be a reason why he
shouldn't be allowed to rap, but, buckling under the pressure, he
sought refuse on the
White Supremacist record label
Resistance Records' internet
messageboard.
Comeback?
This is where Delz's love of
punk and
hardcore music grew
from. Taking inspiration from such bands as the
Angry Aryans, Delz found
that he could express his views in a way he felt much more fitting.
Gone were the days of
biting Louis Logic's controversial song, 'The Ugly
Truth'. But as for what is to come, nothing has yet been stated. A
hint of things has been suggested (Delz has been sporting an
Ethan Fromey
monikor), but Delz is not due into the studio again until the end
of 2006.
