Broken Hill Youth enjoying gaming area at the "Demo
Club"
Situated at 218 Argent Street, in the heart of the central business district of Broken Hill, the Barrier Social Democratic Club (colloquially known as "the Demo") is the main hub of nightlife in the small mining town.
It provides much of the entertainment on weekends for local residents and provides reasonably cheap counter meals throughout the working week.
Arguably, the main source of income for the local club is the extensive number of Poker machines situated in the gaming area.
Recent renovations have also paved way for a sports bar where one can place bets on horse racing and relax in the atmosphere.
On a saturday night, "The Demo" acts as a parade for the town's youth to get dressed up and socialise amongst each other.
People from the ages of 18-70 can be seen enjoying themselves on the dancefloor, at one of the three bars, gaming room, or sitting down and relaxing in the seating area.
