facilitate the University mission as it applies to the management,
teaching, learning, and community service.
To meet this
mission we will:
Provide effective technology support for
audio/visual, computer, multimedia, voice, video, and web-based
applications to fulfill the need of students and staff.
Promote
and facilitate the effective integration of technology into the
basic mission of the University through planning, programming,
training, consulting, and other support activities.
Develop,
enhance, and manage the University enterprise networks to provide
high speed, transparent, and highly functional connectivity among
all information resources.
Develop and maintain highly effective,
reliable, secure, and innovative information systems to support
instructional, administrative and research activities.
Facilitate
the collection, storage, security and integrity of electronic data
while ensuring appropriate access. innovative applications.
Objectives:
IT majors shall receive an
education that gives them the basic knowledge of the most
significant IT areas and is enhanced by appropriate hands-on
experience.
IT majors shall be practiced in oral and written
communication skills, particularly as these skills apply to the
dissemination of technical information on subjects dealing with
information technology.
IT majors will be required to develop a
particular area of strength in a sub-area of IT or in some
complementary area of study.

The use of information technology to enable a time and
location-independent, learner-centered environment where students
will be able to access course content, obtain advice and guidance
from faculty and access student services using a variety of
methods, including those mediated by information technology.
A
network-centered computing environment, where all information
services will be seen as standard network services originating from
a single source and
The continued testing of a mobile and
wireless computing environment, where all members of the University
community will be able to access network services from anywhere, at
any time, both on campus and off.
Overview:
The Department is established in 2001, with an intake of 60
students. The Department has operational, strategic and fiscal
responsibility for the innovation, implementation and advancement
of technology.
Infrastructure:
The
department has been received grants of Rs. 53 Lacks from State
Government. As an outcome of these grants, the department has setup
a Lab of 15 latest Technology PCs, Xeon Servers, and networking.
Soon, three labs, each of 22 desktops of HP-make will be
established. Also, two 64 Kbps Internet leased line and computer
center, shared with computer department, which we open for students
from morning 08:00 am to evening 11:00 pm.
Soon we are going
to install 2 Mbps Internet lease line
Achievements:
Department has developed and
maintained rapport with R & D and published several papers in
the national, international conferences and journals.
Facilities:
Information Technology
Department will support the computing and technological needs of
the Department and the entire University. In addition to regular
activities, our responsibilities include developing, implementing
and maintaining new and existing applications, providing network
and personal computer support, planning for and implementing growth
in our network infrastructure, coordinating all software &
hardware procurements, configurations & installations and
maintaining our website.
