Design for Diversity is the only creative agency in the UK to use design, equality and diversity as tools to achieve better quality of creative work with an aim to increased profits for its clients.

Profile

Design for Diversity was founded in May 2006 by partners Linda Bellos, Nicolas Chinardet, Caroline Jones, Tony Malone and John Marsh. There are also two associates: Dr Ju Gosling and Nicholas Young. This London based venture is effectively the coming together of a design studio ( MarshandMalone) and a diversity consultancy ( Diversity Solutions Ltd).

Services

The companie's services include consultancy on diversity and accessibility, the designing of annual reports, corporate communication material and corporate branding. They advise on, and develop, design and advertising projects that promote diversity and increase market share. They also advise on integrating recycling, human rights and fair trade.

Marketing

Ostensibly, the company shows a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility (C.S.R.). It offers sponsorship to organisations working towards stronger social inclusion. Among others, they sponsor of the ' Various Voices London 2009' international choral music festival and the Kings Cross Steelers rugby team.

The company's website also highlights its partnerss work at a local level, helping groups to improve the communities they serve. Past sponsorships include advising local campaign groups on accessibility, sponsoring a photographic exhibition as part of LGBT History Month UK, and sponsoring a festival of English folk art for Family History Week.

The partners are apparently individually involved in various campaigns, from human rights, green transportation and road safety, to fighting domestic violence and other charity and community work.

This is probably the result of the company's and the partners' ethos and will to have an impact in the community but also includes Design for Diversity to the growing number of companies and organisation embracing CSR as an ethical PR and Marketing tool. As a newly founded company, Design for Diversity has limited funds to invests in costly marketing. Sponsorship is an inventive and very cost effective way to promote its name; the only expenditure made by the company is time.

Another innovative way of promotion used by Design for Diversity is in the harnessing of new technology with the creation of a blog. Again this allows it to put its name out and also to spread its news cheaply and effectively to a self selecting audience of people who are interested in the subject and decide to register to the blog and/or read it regularly).
