Deus Ex Malcontent

Founded in May of 2006, DeusExMalcontent.com is a popular blog which, according to its slogan, prides itself on "Making a Mockery of Mockery." It is written and edited by current CNN producer, 15-year television news veteran and self-proclaimed misanthrope Chez Pazienza, a Miami native who now resides in New York City, NY. The site features biting, insightful and sometimes incendiary commentary on many aspects of popular culture, including politics, religion, music, film, and current events. A recurring theme within its content involves the harsh criticism of the modern mainstream news media, which the author believes have consistently failed in their responsibility to the public. On more than one occasion however, Pazienza has dealt candidly with his personal life, including a past filled with rocky relationships and severe drug abuse, the latter finally forcing him into rehab in August of 2001 in an effort to combat a debilitating heroin addiction.

This story, and his decision to travel to New York City to cover the aftermath of the September 11th, 2001 attacks (which occurred less than two weeks after he was discharged from the hospital) make up the basis for a memoir which Pazienza claims to be soliciting to publishers.

About the Author

From the profile of DeusExMalcontent.com: Born and raised in Miami. Got into TV news at 22 and been stuck there ever since. It's taken me to Los Angeles and New York, and made it possible for me to have two Emmys displayed on my bookshelves, which doesn't make up for the fact that I'm a misanthropic pain-in-the-ass who can occasionally be a nuisance to the managers of one of the largest and most respected news organizations in the world. I live in New York City with my beautiful and extraordinarily patient wife Jayne. I'm baffled as to why America hasn't deported George Bush and Dick Cheney, Hollywood hasn't stopped trying to convince me that Sarah Jessica Parker is a sex-symbol, overweight housewives haven't realized that they share absolutely no kinship with Oprah, and Fox canceled Firefly.
