Dexter R. Yager's is famous for
his involvement in, and success as, an
Amway distributer. Having achieved one of the highest
levels of recognition in the distributor side of the Amway
operation, that of
Crown Ambassador, he boasts
extraordinary wealth.
His Story
The story that he shares
with regard to his success, as published in his "Profiles of
Success" annuals, begins with the statement, "The pin level of
Founders Crown Ambassador in the Networking business is one of
extreme prestige and high honor. It creates great financial
security, but it also characterizes tremendous love and concern"
(Profiles of Success, 1993; pg. 10).
He tells audiences that he
was making $95/week before taxes as a used car salesman when he
began his Amway distributership in 1964. He and his wife Birdie
made "direct" in 60 days and left his job. The Yagers have two
homes, one in Florida and the other in North Carolina; a tennis
court; a pool; and an office building.
The couple has seven
grown children and several grandchildren. At least five of their
children are involved in their Amway operation. Besides the normal
operations of a distributer business, Yager also has developed a
"tools business" which supplies other distributors with
motivational books and tapes, and provides a system of "functions"
- open meetings and conventions - which distributors are strongly
encouraged to take part in to aid them in their success. Several of
these books were authored by Yager himself, though the majority of
the "Standing Order Books" are written by others.
