Overview

Dhol Academy started as place to get youth off the streets and involve them with a culture which allows them to showcase their talents. Some of the original players are now involved within the musical environment. Dhol Academy is a traditional Indian Dhol drumming group and has a strong involvement with charities and good causes. Dhol academy perform annually at the Rise Festival which has a strong multicultural antiracial message for London.

Dhol Academy may be best known for its "in the Dhol Drums act" Which features the biggest Dhol in the world A processional music show, inspired by the north Indian dhol drum, created by the Dhol Academy and Walk the Plank[5]. A giant, mobile dhol drum (3m x 5m) is processed through the street, flanked by drummers and 2 stilted characters that interact with the audience.

Overview




Dhol Academy started as a place to get youth off the streets. It is now a musical institution which involves them in a vibrant culture that allows them to showcase their talents. Some of the original players are now involved with well known singing groups or are semi-professionals working in the music industry.
It is going to be about 20 years since DA first go together. Since then DA (Dhol Academy) has taught hundreds of young students the art of the dhol. Today DA is well known for its Colourfull Performances.

Dhol Acedemy is a traditional Indian Dhol drumming group which offer something to all audiances through a diverse array of musical callobarotions. The Dhol performers dress in bright and colourful costumes of traditional themes to compliment all types of carnival and cultural events.

Dhol academy although keeping its tradition help to bring the diversity of the UK together with its performances, nothing more optimises this than the involvment of Dhol academy annually with The Rise Festival and its culturalanti racist message


Dhol Academy is made up of players and performers of both sexes that bring colourful rhymes to it entertain the crowds as a marching band or run workshops for budding Dhol enthusiastic. DA can be fully acoustic or it can work to a range of soundtracks from Bhangra, Bollywood, Hindi, Reggae, R&B, Garage, House and many more.
