Dickless was a short lived all-girl
American band from
Seattle, Washington.
With Kelly Canary on vocals, Kerry Green on guitar, Jana McCall on bass and Lisa Smith on drums, they were signed to
Sub Pop records.
They were put in the
foxcore scene (an all female derivative of
grunge) and released their only record in May 1990.
The A-side was a cover of the blues song
I'm A Man. It was backed with the brilliant Saddle Tramp and on the European release Miniskirt Mob.
They also recorded Sweet Teeth, which appeared on a compilation album called Teryaki Ashthma.
Kelly's vocals had a very specific style, where she screamed to the limit and it sounded quite painful.
This led to her damaging her vocal cords and the band was unable to continue.
Canary and Smith would resurface as the
Teen Angels, whose Daddy (Sub Pop, 1996) is no less fearful.
