There are
significant differences between the book and film versions of
Eragon by Christopher
Paolini. This article compares the book to the version of the
film shown in cinemas.
Character Changes
In the novel,
Hrothgar is a dwarf, in the film, he is an average-sized human
being.
In the novel, Eragon had brown hair and brown eyes, while
in the film he was portrayed as having blonde hair and blue
eyes.
The novel version of Arya had green eyes and black hair,
the film Arya had blonde hair and brown eyes.
There was a strong
contrast between Murtagh's personalities between the book and the
film.
In the film, Eragon had a crush on Katrina, which didn't
exist in the book. However, the scenes with Katrina were cut.
In
the novel, Durza's face remains the same throughout, in the film he
adopts a more ghostly appearance halfway through.
Saphira grows
extremely quickly, as opposed to the length of time it takes over
the course of the novel.
