With the onslaught of prefab R&B stars in the charts, the UK has been on its knees awaiting a homegrown talent to run the gauntlet against the barrage of ‘Iced-out’ American acts. Welcome to the stage, British born singer, songwriter, producer and entrepreneur extraordinaire Digga.

Bringing together the best of both worlds, he effortlessly melds together some of Joe’s soulful flow, Raphael Saddiq’s leftfield funk and the energy and passion of Jamiroquai bringing to life a seriously unique live sound. Raw, honest and brimming with real emotion, Digga’s melodious vocals entwine with his pensive R&B lyrics narrating his true life tales and experiences.

Born 25 years ago in estate riddled Mile End, East London, and raised in what they affectionately refer to as, ‘Dog-enham’, Digga has clawed his way out of a world rife with gun violence. Today, he is primed not only to leave a mark but to carve out his signature in the musical arena of tomorrow. From being a self proclaimed daydreamer to becoming the co-founder of a successful Production Label and with a debut single on its way, Digga is prepared to raise the bar for R&B acts in 2007.

Coming from a hugely musical family, Digga has been immersed in singing for as long as he can remember and making music from as soon as he could get his hands on a tape recorder. His appreciation of the unpredictability and ever changing rhythm of the industry was instilled in him as he watched the trials and tribulations of his father, celebrated reggae singer John McLean’s career. The indispensable education that Digga received in the art of making music and delivering it to the masses, allowed him to work his way up the ladder diligently. His aspirations from an early age to make music his life were paramount, so much so that he started working the angles while he was still at school.

His fascination with singing and songwriting began to take root and evolve in the cramped grey classroom where teachers often fought to capture the attention of students. Talking about his friends Digga explains, “We did come to an agreement with one of our teachers during our Math’s lessons. It was one of the subjects we hated but in exchange for some time to rehearse our music and perform we would be attentive during lessons…worked for both parties I guess” he laughs.

After establishing a name for themselves in the classrooms and on playing fields, Digga wasted no time in moving forward and anticipating the next step. He networked furiously and sang every opportunity he got and eventually his tenacious deeds paid off. He landed himself, et al, a regular slot on the massively popular underground radio station Flava FM, which was notorious for pushing forward new talent. The new show allowed the now named ‘Ice Cold Crew’ to formally take shape gave them a massive outlet to promote their musical talents individually.

The group had success within the underground Garage scene with mixtapes which blazed their way onto other radio stations as well as within clubland which led to Digga and one other friend to launch their own Production Label ‘Blaque Sheep Records’.

However it was his chance meeting with The Schizofreniks Record Label that offered to help him move his next obstacle clear out of the road. The same label that partook in developing this years X-Factor favourite Leona Lewis, is working with Digga in preparation for his premiere offering as a solo artist. Currently, his unreleased underground track ‘Broken’ a heartfelt ballad is taking over the airwaves in Germany. Only available as a download on Digga’s Myspace page and the Schizofreniks site, the track was brought to the attention to the largest Urban music radio shows in the country by the huge fan requests that DJ’s received. Digga is to travel to Germany to tour during Mid 2007.

His debut single ‘Let’s Creep’, a perfect blend of old school soul with a twist of modern day R&B, is even hotter! Working its way into clubs and radio in the UK as we speak.

Comparable to any of the best US R&B acts, Digga’s rollercoaster ride of positive vibes and fantastic talent is marking a new era in British R&B. Catch a glimpse into his world as his aspirations begin to take flight and he begins his ascent into the charts to become the name on everyone’s lips in 2007.
