Discovery Channel (Australia) is part of a seven channel network on cable and satellite television in Australia. This network includes three locally programmed channels and three foreign programmed channels. The Australian version of the Discovery Channel is operated by XYZnetworks[3], who also own the exclusive distribution rights for the channel.[1] It was launched in July 1995, replacing the Quest documetary channel launched in April 1995 by XYZ.[4] Since the renaming of Travel & Adventure to Travel & Living, much of the travel genre programming (including first run series) has been removed from the Channel. On the 29th of March, 2009 Discovery rebranded in line with Discovery US, complete with new Id's and the slogan 'The World Is Just Awesome.' On April 4 2009, Discovery will relaunch its Discovery Kids branding on the channel after 6 years of hiatus.
