The Disobedients
The Disobedients is a
punk band.
They were founded by members Jurmicide (vocals), Killjoy (guitar) and Longbear (bass) in
Knoxville, Tennessee in
2005, adding drummer Jere shortly thereafter.
The
Disobedients is an old-school punk act spewing unapologetic political platitudes, bathroom-humor vulgarities, and no-apologies inflammatories.
Their shows have become marked by the rising number of prophylactics and feminine hygeine products being thrown back and forth between band and audience.
In October of 2005, the
Disobedients recorded
Getta Whiffa Dis, a five-track preview disc.
Despite its lack of "official" distribution, the disc quickly found its way to faraway places such as Sweden, South Africa, Australia and Israel and began receiving attention from DIY media sources in those countries.
It was also quickly picked up by Cyco Loco Radio in Oakland, California and
Creep13Punx Radioin
Billings, Montana.
Reviews are currently awaiting publication in more "major" publications, such as
Maximum Rock N' Roll.
In February 2006, the band completed recording their upcoming full-length, tentatively titled
Big Time Swinging at Knoxville's Sound Lair studio, which is scheduled for a fall 2006 release.
The Disobedients are currently pursuing an aggressive roster of shows in the southeast United States.
In April 2006, the band was interviewed in the
The Knoxville News-Sentinel and praised for their dedication to the re-vitalization of the
Knoxville, Tennessee underground music scene.
The
Disobedients are published under PhenomInal Enigma Publishing registered
ASCAP.
