====Distantsun====
Distantsun are a
rock/
metal
band that are based in Beverley, near Hull in England.
The band
formed in 2007, when Lead Guitarist
TimmyD put an
advert for a band in Beverley Guitar Shop, and within a week,
bassist and singer
Marcus Griffin, got in touch
and joined. The songs combine mainly hard riffs with matching bass
to the guitar. All the songs written so far have been written by
Guitarist TimmyD, and have had praise from friends at his school.
When the advert was unsuccessful in finding a the rest of the
band, TimmyD turned to his school friends. Asking 3 guitarists and
2 drummers, all turning down the offer. Eventually
Eddie
Thompson &
Gavin Saul took up
positions of vocals and drummer, but their stay in the band only
lasted 3 weeks. Then in late April, a friend of TimmyD told him of
a guitarist who was interested in joining a band. The two got in
touch and
Sam Wilson became the third surviving
member of Distantsun.
The name was dicovered one morning when
TimmyD was stuck in a queue on a road in Hull and looked up a train
bridge and saw this graffitied on the bridge, quoting it was "like
a sign that was looking down on me", the band agreed with the
name.
Progress
Distantsun have not recorded an album
yet, or played together, but a band practice is due anytime soon.
Approximately 24 songs have been written by TimmyD, the first being
the formidable, low D tuned and dearly loved
Crazy
Bitch. Other favourites are Rock & Roll and Take All
The Love. Only one live perfromance has been performed under the
name, Guitarist took his guitar into school and played a gig in the
unbooked music room at the school. 1 hour before the performance,
he was still considering which song to play first, consulting with
Jack Farrow, the lead singer in the rival band of the same school,
the Mds. He said to him
that they may get kicked out of the room, so he should play their
best hit, Crazy Bitch, he did and ended up playing that the riff of
another.
