"Ditch The Label" (
DTL) is an
international organization campaining for
social labels to
be of a lesser importance in today's
society. The group is comprised almost entirely of
teenagers and
young adults,
and the website is built up of mostly user-submitted resources.
HISTORY
The campaign was first established in
Summer 2007<ref name = "Established2k7">"> </ref> as
a
MySpace page -
http://www.myspace.com/DitchTheLabel. It was later hacked and
deleted, before being recreated by the head of the organization -
Liam Rawrd, also known as "DiageoLiam".
DitchTheLabel.com
was officially Launched alongside it's forum on the 21st March 2008
at 8pm GMT and is so far recieving mixed reviews, particularly
across social networking sites like MySpace. The site offers access
to their merchandise range, forum, and social networking pages as
well as online content, links and phone numbers to international
helplines and resources apparently designed to help the user accept
themselves. Much of the content consists of user submitted poetry,
stories and columns.
Commerce
In early 2007 the group had
an extremely short lived online merchandise range - hosted on
spreadshirt.com
- the range, mainly comprised of "skinny-fit" t-shirts, was on sale
for altogether around a week before DiageoLiam removed it from the
internet.
The long awaited forthcoming Merchandise Line is
rumoured to go on sale commencing early april 2008.
