Dizzay is a free questions and answers site similar to Yahoo! Answers, that is based in the Caribbean. Dizzay allows users to ask and answer questions based by other people. In order to use Dizzay, you must have an active account. On other forums, there is a "report" button, which does not exist on Dizzay. Instead people would call upon the administrator, which gives direct input. Sometimes he even talks to the users, letting them voice their opinions and asking them for suggestions. Usually anytime there is a problem, the administrator, which users also call "Bono", "The Big Yellow Head", "The Man" and many others, comes and fixes the problem at the discretion of the users.

Differences from other Q&A Sites

Dizzay differs from other sites in the way that the users can voice whatever they want, giving the site an edge of freedom of speech. The users also seem to be more sociable in this sense. You also have the choice to give out more than one best answer, opposed to others that lets you only choose one. Dizzay also offers Dizzay Live , which is a chat room where users can discuss topics. Dizzay also offers a site for the teens, Teen Dizzay (or Dizzay Teen). You are also able to add to, and edit your questions after they are asked. Also, unlike some other sites, all questions are posted instantly on the homepage, which includes questions from all of the categories. You also have the choice to leave a "blank" answer.

Points System

The site gives users the chance to gain points as a way to encourage participation. The system goes as follows. You get three points for asking a question. You get three points for answering a question. If your answer is cholse as best answer, and there are two or less best answers, you receive fifteen points. If you get best answer, and and there are three or more best answers, you receive five points. Just log on and answer any question and chances are you will be picked for best answer along with everybody else that answers that question.

Humor on the Site

Users on Dizzay has found humor in many ways. They found humor in items such as Bread, Butter, and more. They even convinced the administrator to create categories on these topics, which many people find hilarious. They also have a category, Ya Who0?, which refers to their competitor site, Yahoo Answers. A growing number of members have assumed "monkey" avatars and this has become a running joke.

"Dizzay Royal Family"

Dizzay Teen is much different from the other, "regular" Dizzay. Here, there is a unofficial "Dizzay Royal Family" Consisting of a King, Queen, Prince, and Princess. Because this is an inside thing, the members are subject to change continuously. Some don't even recognize this as a group. There are also Knights.

Other Humor

On Dizzay Teen, there are many other forms of humor. One such thing is the made up character, B.S. Clause. Another form of "alleged" humor is the growing incidence of impersonators. Some users of below average intelligence, and drinking age, see humor in IMing other users claiming to be someone they are not. It is a growing problem and will no doubt be the down fall of the site much like what happened at Yahoo Answers.

  • Just an addendum - the issue of impersonators is really only in the chatrooms and the problem is minor at best. We're in an internet society made up of a lot of people and of course once in a while someone's going to push the envelope, but it's really quite rare and when it happens it's dealt with quickly.
