Dj ROYCE (born
Herbert Royce Lindsey;
January 29,
1965 in
Huntsville,
Alabama,
United States) is becoming one of the world's leading electronic dance music
DJ and
producers.
Biography
Royce grew up in
North Alabama, where he kept in touch with the world from the
Rocket City by living in a family that worked close with all the
NASA missions, but his real interest was his uncles work at a local AM radio station, where he got to go sometimes and watch his uncle spin records on the early rock stations of the
70's He would bring the
Associated Press printouts to his teachers and he would get to stand up in front of his class and read these stories.
This would be good practice for his unknown upcoming radio career.
In
1974,
Huntsville,
Alabama suffered one of the worst tornado's in it's history.
A
tornado his his house, and everyone's around his.
If it wasn't for his dad laying on top of him, he might of been hurt.
That would be the turning point in his future career as a
Dj.
He and his family of 1 Sister and 1 brother moved to the outskirts of the city and his dad built them a new house.
Royce would now goto the county school systems, which had more money than the city system, so they had money for music, band, pop bands, and more.
In
1984 the entire school was aware of Royce's dream of becoming a disc jocky, so they would asks him to do all the prom's, parties, and fall festival disco's.
After graduating high school, Royce and his girlfriend of 4 years did not waste any time in getting married.
Royce would need to get a job, so he applied to the local Skate Center, and got the job right away.
Within 4 months of getting this new job, he was ask to work the Saturday Night teen & young adult skate parties.
He gained attention quick.
In 1986, Royce was interviewd by the local paper as one of the "local entertainers" which gave him the publicity to have the large Night Clubs call him and offer him a full time job in the clubs.
In March
1992 he opened his own night club, which brought some of the first
house music to the area, and the college crowds seemed to like it, because the club did very well for 6 years before they decided to close it down.
Royce would put his turn-tables away and work towards finishing school and training to follow another dream to work in
telecommunications.
In
1999 Royce started work for
Lucent Technologies as a
5ESS switch engineer.
This job would take him all over the world to work on the latest voice services.
By
2002 he started to miss those turntables and got them out of the attick to get them working for a class reunion.
He would not put them away again, until the new
CD and
DVD/
MP3 mixers and turntables came out.
Soon Royce was hosting class reunions all over the state, and had created a good second income.
2004 he got his first chance to host his own show on
satellite radio when
Sirius Satellite Radio contacted him after hearing a mix CD someone had sent them.
From
April 2004 Dj ROYCE has had six successful radio shows on Sirius, as well as two shows which are in syndication now.
Trance Mission is a show that is currently on a
FM frequecy in
Miami,
Florida.
Another show called The Retro Remix is currenly being played on 11 stations in the
United States and
Canada, it is a show that play 80's music from the night clubs of those years.
Dj ROYCE hosts two shows a week on
1CLUB.FM called Nite Flight- The Trance Mission Sessions 3, as well as a live show called The Sonic Cathedral, which plays more to the Electronic House style.
