Born on the 31st October 1979 in County Durham, DJ Simonz (Real
Name Simon Ng) resides in the North West area of the United
Kingdom.
Since first gracing a set of decks in the early parts
of the Millennium during his student days, DJ Simonz has come a
long way in the progression of his Music. That journey has seen his
interest in DJing and Music Production develop from a bedroom hobby
into the catalyst for him to emerge to front the current
Asian/Oriental dance music explosion in the UK and playing at some
of the country's biggest venues, including London's legendary
Ministry of Sound. The 26 year old Manchester based DJ/Producer has
slowly built up a reputation as a DJ of high calibre who can
consistently entertain diverse crowds and send them home craving
more of the same. It is this reputation which has earned him
several DJ residencies along his developing career for several
Oriental clubbing brands in the UK including Zen Nation, Kolor,
Sweet Ginger and playing in prestigious clubs including Ministry Of
Sound, Pacha, Bunnik NL, Industria, Miss Money Pennys, Bed,
Gatecrasher & M2.
Simonz' humble beginnings prior to his
DJing rise involved the establishment of a Chinese pop-music, remix
website-cult under the name of Simtub. After taking over the Asian
music interests of the previously no.1 Worldwide DJ voted Dancecity
Network online. The new site immediately created a stir with the
online Oriental Music community. By using the Internet and working
with a team of enthusiastic DJs & Producers from around the
world he helped filter the harder edged western sounds of Dance and
Hip Hop and mix it together with Cantonese pop songs to create an
infectious blend of pop dance. This was injected directly into the
rave and club scenes in countries such as Hong Kong, Malaysia,
Taiwan as well as into the vast Asian/Oriental communities within
USA, Canada, Australia and the UK with regular clubbers dancing
along to underground club version tracks with the likes of Leon
Lai, Sammi Cheung, Joey Yung & Coco Lee.
Having since been
discovered by Hollands largest Asian/Oriental party promoters,
Human Entertainment, DJ Simonz has successfully crossed over to
Dutch waters and occasionaly spins for their huge monthly party
nights. Through this connection, DJ Simonz also caught the ears of
a Dutch DJing/Production team Zerosystem, and was immediately
invited to join with them founding a unique Anglo Dutch connection
and which eventually let to promoting events of all tastes and
musical genres including Jin The Emcee's Official European Tour in
2005.
Over time DJ Simonz has progressed and kept pace with the
evolution of dance music and strived to stay at the cutting edge of
the scene and to make a difference. As his love for Music ranges
hugely from Trance, Electro, Hard Dance, House & Breaks to Hip
Hop & Drum&Bass, he has turned his attentions to further
experimentation and focused on the creation of his own quality
productions. In the studio, DJ Simonz has wrapped up his first
official release, co-producing a driving Trance remix with
Singapore based production partner DJ P@T. Their production effort
was for the debut worldwide single of local Hong Kong Dance guru
Jamaster A's - Bells of Tianamen Track - a hefty slice of Oriental
Trance that is sure to make waves in the World wide club scene.
Over the other side of the ocean, DJ Simonz has also had the
oppurtunity to link up with Indie Label Nemesis Record's artist
Kristine Sa with the result of another uplifiting melodic remix for
one of Kristine's debut album tracks - A Dose of You.
Meanwhile,
another interesting side to DJSimonz's life is his creative passion
of 3D Design & Motion Graphics. His works are regularly used in
Club event promotions and media events and soon he has plans to
single handedly produce his own music album along with album
artwork and motion graphics Music Videos - Talk about
individualism! Watch out for more quality produce from Simonz on
MySpace and djsimonz.com!
