Dom-I-Nechers is a social fraternity on the campus of
Emory & Henry College
in Emory,
Virginia.The
fraternity dates back in to the 1860's as a secret society for the
Confederate Army. It finally came out of hiding and was granted a
charter by the college in 1920 making it the oldest fraternity on
the campus of Emory & Henry College. The fraternity stands on
the principles of Honesty, Dignity, and Integrity while promoting
Leadership through Individuality. The brotherhood's official colors
are black and red. The letters that signify the fraternity are D I
N. The fraternity enjoyed 50 years on Emory & Henry's campus
until the brothers took part in activities that lead to the
dischartering of the fraternity. In January 2006 Eric Etueati began
to look into possibly re-chartering the fraternity. He asked
Nathaniel "Nate" Griffith to also be a Re-Founding father. The two
of them began their journey on resurrecting the fraternity. They
eventually pulled Gairdt Edwards in as well as the Third and final
Re-Founding father. The three men took the fraternity to Greek
council where it passed 8 to 1. The men then took the brotherhood
to Emory & Henry's student Senate where is unanimously passed.
On April 19th 2006 the Dom-I-Necher fraternity was once again the
oldest fraternity on Emory & Henry. Some of its proud alumni
include: Joe P. Johnson (
House of Delegates Member for the 4th
District of
Virginia,
