Encyclopedia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dominic Minghella is a British television screenwriter. His most successful project has been the creation of the ITV network comedy-drama series Doc Martin, starring Martin Clunes, which began in 2004. He is also the chief writer and show runner of BBC One's 2006 production Robin Hood, produced independently for the BBC by Tiger Aspect Productions.

He has also written for Hamish Macbeth, starring Robert Carlyle.

His son, Dante, appeared on the 2006 Channel 4 programme Child Genius, which showed that Dante is a recorded child genius with an interest in philosophy.

He is the brother of Anthony Minghella, Oscar-winning director of The English Patient, who died at 54 in 2008[1].

Minghella has stepped down from his role as lead writer and executive producer on the BBC One series Robin Hood for the third series, and will no longer be involved with the show. The decision comes after numerous cast members (including Jonas Armstrong and Keith Allen) decided to leave the show.

Films

As a child, Dominic Minghella starred in the first film his brother Anthony Minghella directed: A Little Like Drowning.
