Dominion is a browser-based game, where players take control of a plot of land in a realm consisting of a group of up to 19 other players. With your dominion and allied players, you combat the forces of good or evil using your military, magic, or espionage resources.

Gameplay is divided into periods called "rounds"; each round officially lasts 50 days. Each time a round ends, a new one begins and it generally incorporates changes and tweaks to the game's features.

Dominion and Dominion: Liege Lord are created by Ross and operated by Kamikaze Games, Inc. Other people involved with the game's development include Green, storyline writer for classic Dominion.

Dominion: Liege Lord

Dominion: Liege Lord is a variant of the original Dominion game. While largely similar to Dominion, Dominion: Liege Lord features some differences in the game dynamics, mainly: the length of a round is twice as long (99 days), alliances replace realms, a bannerman referral system is utilised, and costs related to running a dominion are relatively more expensive.

    Terms & definitions

  • Alliance - Working together with people outside of your own Realm in order to gain a mutual advantage over other realms/dominion. For a long time, Alliances cast a shadow over the playerbase although there is now a strict No Alliance policy held by the Admin.

  • Attacking - Style of play of which attacking other kingdoms is the most important way of growth. Someone who attacks is called an 'attacker'.

  • Bounce - To fail an attack.

  • Break - To succeed in an attack

  • Converting - Style of play of which exploring is the most important way of growth in the beginning and later on the player converts his play-style to attacker.

  • Efficiency - This is the opposite of Speed. Using a strategy that will have a high population in the long term. This will allow for a greater income towards the end of the round and so has long-term advantages. The strategy may involve using more Elite troops than Specs or using DMs and homes in order to provide a long term income/advantage.

  • Elite - The 3rd and 4th units of each race (offense or defense). This is the most efficient unit of its type for that race.

  • Exploring - Style of play of which exploring land is the most important way of growth. One who explores is called an 'explorer'.

  • Farm - An account (usually set up as a secondary account by one person/alliance) which is created for the sole purpose of giving another account an advantage by providing an easy target. Normally this refers to land gain, but it can apply to other resources eg. "plat farm" or "convert farm"

  • Farming - The use of a farm by the player's main account.

  • Hopping (Realm Hopping) - Signing into the game and deleting yourself, until you land in a desired realm number. Usually done, when someone didn't fit in a pack, and still wants to play with them in the same realm.

  • Laming/Cheating/Cheatz0ring - Style of play designed to take advantage of any loopholes in the script of the game, or going against the generally accepted conduct of play, such as forming an alliance or gaining support from outside your realm.

  • NAPping - Agreeing on a Non Aggression Pact - meaning two realms/dominions will deliberately avoid hitting each other in order to give them a mutual advantage over other realms/dominions (this is a violation of the rules).

  • Packing - Playing with a group of people, who decided to do so before the round started. Maximum pack size is 6. There are a few things you are not allowed to do if you pack: you cannot defect from your realm; your pack can't have more than 2 players playing the same race (except in the case of a 3 pack).

  • Raze - To intentionally fail an attack on a target with the sole objective of reducing their defence so that another dominion can then break that target. This is regarded by some as a form of Laming, although other people see it as a selfless act to give a teammate an advantage.

  • Realm - Your "team" of upto 20 different dominions. You work together with your Realm in order to help each other, which will in turn, give you mutual benefits.

  • Specialist/Spec - The First and Second Unit of each race (offense or defense). These are cheaper than their Elite counterparts and so are more beneficial in the short term, although they become a disadvantage in the long term when Efficiency becomes important.

  • Speed - This is the opposite of efficiency. It is a short-term strategy in order to gain an advantage quickly. It may involve using spec units or buildings such as GNs/GTs/temps that will give a quick speed burst but due to their inefficiency, will become harmful in the long term.

  • Suiciding - Style of play of which attacking with high OP but leaving low DP is the way. This is an extremely risky way of playing and will usually be done in order to harm a specific person for their previous actions.

  • Teching - Style of play of which players get technological advancements in the beginning and later on those would help them grow faster.

  • Turtle - To use the defensive value of your offensive elite troops to remain unbreakable after an attack. For example Trolls have a high "turtle (power)" whereas DE's and Lycs have none.
