From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Don "Branks" Brankley (born in Capreol, Ontario) was the team trainer for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League.

He was the first trainer of the London Knights, and was hired weeks before going to Laurentian University to which he was accepted but did not attend in 1970.

During his 38-year career he has made countless friendships with Knights past and present and is revered as an icon in the city of London. He is somewhat less popular in opposition cities (particularly in Windsor where he is often taunted with shouts of "Waterboy"). Brankley worked with the Canadian World Junior team in the 1980s and was once offered a job by the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins organizations, but turned it down to stay with the Knights. He won a Memorial Cup as a member of the Knights organization in 2005.

Don Brankley officially announced his retirement from the London Knights to the end of the 2007-2008 season and has since released his Auto-Biography.
