Encyclopedia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Donald Guthrie (1915 – 1992) was a New Testament scholar. Guthrie was a graduate of the University of London (B.D., Th.M., Ph. D.). From 1949 until his retirement in 1982 Guthrie was lecturer in New Testament studies at London Bible College (now London School of Theology), and from 1978 until 1982 he served as vice-principal of the college.

Guthrie is well known for his magisterial works New Testament Introduction and New Testament Theology, which some evangelicals believe to be among the more significant books related to the New Testament. One or the other is almost invariably to be found in the bibliography of any book about the New Testament in general since its publication.
