Dennis Thompson, the Penis Pump Judge Guilty

Former Oklahoma Creek County District Court judge Dennis Thompson has been found guilty of four felony counts of indecent exposure. He has been sentenced to serve four concurrent one year in prison terms, and has been fined $40,000. He must register as a sexual offender. He has already served 20 months in jail. Previously Thompson had refused a deal that would've allowed him to keep his $93,468 pension in return for a guilty plea on three misdemeanor counts of outraging public decency.

In 2004 a court reporter observed Judge Thompson using a penis pump during three trials, two of which were murder trials. She saw him inserting his penis into the pump, and she saw him using the device. "Whooshing" noises are clearly audible in the audiotape recordings of these trials. Jurors heard the peculiar noises and wondered whether the judge was using an air cushion, blood pressure machine, or bicycle pump.

A court reporter claimed she saw him insert his penis into the pump as well as on twelve to fourteen additional occasions during this period. She also saw him shaving his pubic area while presiding over trials. A balliff also saw him inserting his penis into the pump. Others saw the judge making unexplained hand motions under the bench. One winess thought he was playing a hand-held video game, another thought he might have been tying flies for fly fishing. Jurors noticed his hand repeatedly flexing, his robe going up and down, and his facial expression changing. The pace of the pumping noise began slowly at first, but became more rapid. He was also seen applying hand lotion to his penis and masturbating.

A police sergeant who was a trial witness observed Thompson holding a plastic device, heard him unzip his pants, and also observed a tube disappearing under his robe between his legs. The curious sergeant looked behind Thompson's desk during a court recess and discovered the penis pump.

A janitor at the court house refused to empty the garbage can under Thompson's desk without rubber gloves on because on several occasions he thought it contained both semen and urine.
