DOVADO is a manufacturer of residential gateways and routers for mobile broadband and fixed wireless.

Company

The company was founded in the spring of 2004, with headquarters in the Dubai Internet City (part of the Dubai Technology and Meda Free Zone) and a European representation office for R&D along with Sales, in Kista, Sweden (a telecom suburb in the north of Stockholm).

The DOVADO product portfolio consists of various routers and gateways for mobile broadband technologies such as 3G/HSPA, as well as fixed wireless access networks such as 802.16d WiMAX. At the core of this portfolio is the DOVADO Gateway Manager, a software solution for providing centralized operator management of all deployed DOVADO residential gateways within the network in order to keep the subscriber units configured, maintained and upgraded over time, without any subscriber intervention in the process.

Product Portfolio

In 2006, DOVADO had introduced its star product, the Wireless Residential Gateway (WRG) and secured sales towards operators and distributors of various technologies such as GPRS, EDGE, 3G/UMTS, 3G/HSPA, CDMA2000-EVDO, FLASH-OFDM, iBurst and TD-CDMA.

The DOVADO Wireless Residential Gateway (WRG) allows a subscriber to slot in a mobile broadband PCMCIA modem into the unit for all data communication. This will turn the WRG into a wireless router with mobile broadband on the backhaul and WiFi/LAN for the local subscriber access. The WRG also contains 2 telephone ports for SIP telephony, meaning that subscribers can use telephony provided by the operator. As the WRG contains two telephone ports, the option is available to use separate operators for each line. In reality, one can have an operator-provided phone number on line 1 and a corporate iPBX extension on line 2 in case the business user decides to work from home.

The WRG is portable. It can be used at home, business, summer house, boat, RV or even while in the car if you have a cigarette power adapter to go with it. One can turn ones immediate environment into a WiFi hotspot and if required to make phone calls, one simply plugs in a common domestic analog phone into it.
