Sara C. Mednick is a research scientist at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and on faculty at the University of California, San Diego in La Jolla, CA.<ref>http://www.saramednick.com</ref> She received a PhD in psychology from Harvard University and is author of the recent book Take a Nap! Change your Life. The scientific plan to make you smarter, healthier and more productive.<ref>http://takeanap.info</ref> Her research is devoted not only to understanding how napping can improve human performance but also, through the use of such cutting-edge technology as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG), to actually pinpoint the areas of the brain that underlie these improvements.

Dr. Mednick has conducted studies in conjunction with numerous academic institutions, the U.S. Navy, V.A. Medical Center and private businesses. Her research has been published in such leading scientific journals as Nature Neuroscience and The Proceedings from the National Academy of Science.
