==Overview & History ==
The
Dragon Wing is
the premier ship belonging to the traders of
Teirm in the fantasy book
Eldest by
Christopher Paolini. It is decribed
as a large barge similar to a Viking
longboat with three rows of paddles. It once
belonged to the Empire under the King of
Galbatorix, but it was stolen and given to
the traders of
Terim by
Jeod
Longshanks and his friend
Roran Garrowsson, who were in charge of the
Varden at the time. It was
then taken to
Surda where it
single-handedly destroyed Galbatorix's entire navy and supplied the
Varden army with a supply of fresh troopers and
trebuchets that were part of the
Imperial army's designs. the pages where this happened was in the
book [Eldest] by christopher paolini.
Role in
Eragon
This ship is mentioned by trader
Jeod but does not do anything
significant.
Role in Eldest
The Dragon Wing is
more substantially mentioned than in the previous book, and is
described as a large triple-mast ship, the fastest in Teirm. It is
noted as being armed with twelve ballistas. It is stolen by Roran
Garrowsson and the refugees of Carvahall, with the help of Joed and
his wife, when they stop outside of Teirm. They then sail the ship
from Teirm to Surda. Later, they use it to attack Galbatorix's army
at the
Battle of the Burning Plains in
a move to assist the Varden.
This ship is also notable because
it was one of the few vessels capable of surviving the currents of
the
Eye of
the Boar, a powerful whirlpool that caught many ships and
dragged them to ocean floor.
earlier in eldest,

Varden rebelllion.
speculation
many
eragon fans have speculated that maybe the
Dragon Wing is similar to
role in the function of
millenium falcon from
starwars. this means that it is the
ship used often by the heroes and was once stolen from a villainn
[in eragon, this is stolen from the evil traders who serve
galbatorix at terim and in star wars this is stlen from a bounty
hunter named nam solo.these are one of many (possibly false) claims
that eragon is based heavily off of on stars. wars. 02:53, 21
