Dragonball: The Movie is the tentative upcoming
installment of the
Dragonball movie series, and will be the first
live action movie based on the
manga. In 2002 Twentieth Century Fox aquired the
rights from Shueisha to create a live action feature film version
of Dragonball. (adapted from the manga).
The live action
Dragonball film will be overseen by Elizabeth Gabler and Jack
Leslie is the director of production. Twentieth Century Fox bought
the domain dragonballz-move.com. Recently, at the end of March
2006, the domain expired and Fox did in fact renew it. To view the

Variety reports, In 2004 Twentieth Century Fox hired Ben Ramsey
(
The Big Hit) to
ink the screenplay. The trade tips that he was paid $500,000 for
the gig. Wizard Magazine reported that Fox approached Director
Alejandro Amenabar (The Sea Inside) to direct the film. He turned
down the offer.
In July 2006, Variety reported that
Joss Whedon will
be directing the film. Fox 2000, popular for producing the film
Fight Club, will
be producing the movie. Ben Ramsey's draft of the script is
finished, and Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio have been hired to pen
the final draft. Actors are expected to be hired throughout the
rest of this year and into 2007.

Robin Williams has
expressed interest in this film, as well as the upcoming live
action Neon Genesis Evangelion film being
produced by ADV Films, Gainax and Weta Workshop, Ltd. Williams is
apparently a big anime fan. In 2003, a mystery informant calling
himself Mr. Z spread rumors about the movie throughout fan sites
everywhere. Fox is scouting for shooting locations in Thailand,
Australia, and New Zealand.The unofficial Dragonball Z Live

film. Most of which seem nearly spot on.
