Drakojan Skies is a science-fantasy online 2D side-scrolling action/adventure game series created by one person under the Alias of "Omega Dragon 3000", which takes place in the 2nd Chapter of the “Adregalus” universe.
It is an original combination of sci-fi battle aircraft and an alternate look on fantasy dragons. The story basically tells the tale of a fighter squadron who goes against their own military forces to protect that which they were ordered to destroy, namely the “Drakojans” or “Akeshi”s, a dragon-tiger mix race of highly intellectual, cultural, spiritual and friendly beings.
Each of the eight members of the squad has their own unique story and motives to help these beings and each other to overcome the difficult task of living as rebels from their own forces.
In the games, the reasons and purpose of these orders and attacks are left mostly in the dark, but bits of clues are scattered across the battle-torn continents of Ethonia to let the player come up with their own conclusions.
The Drakojan Skies comics and animated movies however explain everything in detail.

The Games

The first Drakojan Skies game: “Drakojan Skies Mission 1”, was released in 2005 at NewGrounds.com and then later sponsored by ArmorGames.com.
M. Wemhoff created all visuals, programming and ideas for each game.
The Adregalus Community however provided their own ideas and suggestions which were later on implemented into “Acolytes”.

There are currently four games online and one in development:
- Drakojan Skies Mission 1 (released on the 13th of August 2005)
- Drakojan Skies Mission 2 (released on the 22nd of September 2005)
- Drakojan Skies Mission 3 (released on the 7th of November 2005)
- Drakojan Skies Acolytes (unfinished Alpha version, released on the 13th of March 2006)
- Drakojan Skies Acolytes (full version, currently in development)

The Design Concept

Inspired by early 90’s 16-bit arcade side scrolling action shooters, the author decided to make a game in a similar fashion like the games he grew up with and thus “Drakojan Skies” was born.
It was originally designed to be one game and have 10 unique stages, a character selection menu, craft selection feature and much more.
The author decided that ultimately it was too early to begin such a enormous task. Instead of making a full game, the Drakojan Skies “Missions” series were made as ‘practice’ so that the author would familiarize himself better with the programming of Macromedia Flash Action-Script, the code of which the game is made with.
One year later, after three Missions and one unfinished alpha, the original design and idea of Drakojans Skies is finally in full production.

The Story

Nachenyu Tribal Logo

Drakojan Skies is a side-story of the second Chapter of the “Adregalus” universe.

Set in the distant future, the story revolves around a fighter squadron of eight pilots who fly for the 51st Marathe Royal Air Force, the “Omega Squadron”.
They are sent on a non-hostile mission to oversee the bombing operation of a fighter squadron of an alliance faction. The targets: Caves which are supposedly used by rebels and guerilla forces. It is quickly discovered by the second in command of the Omega Squadron, Rick Kramer, that these caves are in fact inhabited by Drakojans, a very peaceful, kind and supportive dragon-tiger-like race of highly cultural and spiritual beings.
The mission then becomes far from anything other than one based on misinformation and primed on the destruction of a local and peaceful Drakojan tribe, the “Nachenyu”, for the benefit of a yet unknown reason.
After suddenly discovering the truth, Kramer was ordered to be shot down by his commanding officers, but his fellow colleagues disobeys these orders, help their friend and ultimately untie themselves completely from their military completely.
The squadron then befriends themselves with the Nachenyu Drakojans and thus the fight to protect these innocent natives of the planet Ethonia begins, for all over the planet there are reports of similar attacks.

Though the games are focused more on action, locations and various designs, the story truly lies within the Drakojan Skies animated episodes and digital comic, both which are currently in development by M. Wemhoff.

The Drakojan Skies story is a rather confusing tale about various governments, their alliances to one another, their conspiracies, actions and how it all affects the common natives and lives of those on both Earth and Ethonia.

The Adregalus Chapters and Universe

Adregalus consists of four main chapters, each with brand new characters, themes and storylines. There are no sequels.
The one main storyline through-out Adregalus is the quest for the disclosed truth of mankind’s origins and past which are covered up by various groups and governments for their own individual benefits.
In the future, when a significant discovery has been made, an attempt to map the stars is launched. Upon ‘accidentally’ discovering planet “Ethonia”, we make first contact with a primitive alien race which may hold the answers to what we seek, for they are remarkably similar to humans in appearance, yet they hold their beliefs and culture higher than we do. In time, after many years of difficult attempts at a co-existence, we begin to continue our quest for knowledge and form a powerful bond of friendship and respect.

S.U.B.A. (Support Union Battle Aircraft)

The SUBAs are the main bosses in the games. Their sizes range from twice the size of the player to huge crafts which are bigger than the game screen.
These crafts however are no longer the prime stage bosses of the upcoming ‘Acolytes’ game, but are now a form of ‘mini bosses’.

The SUBAs are piloted by up to three pilots or one computer and serve as a flying mobile command HQ for battlefield operations, or are used as a heavy assault craft.

Some SUBAs can be merged with one another to from a bigger, more powerful craft.
