Ed, Edd n Eddy: Scam of the Century is an action game developed and published by D3 Publisher America for the Nintendo DS handheld console. The game is based on the popular, long-running Cartoon Network series, Ed, Edd n Eddy. The game was released on October 23, 2007 in the United States. In the game, the Eds run the risk of having their scams turned on them by the other kids in the neighborhood. Many of the objects and characters, as well as the visual style, borrow heavily from the cartoon.
Each Ed has his own set of levels to complete. They're all side-scrolling fare, but each Ed has his own style of movement and attacks. Edd throws dictionaries, Ed slams his head down on the enemies, while Eddy spits his gum at enemies (Although this freezes the enemy, it does not defeat them). Item pick-ups can be activated on the touch-screen.
On top of the platforming elements, the game contains a number of unlockable mini-games: Whack-a-Mole has been turned into "Whack a Zit" where players tap at rising pimples on Ed's back before they burst. There's also a pie-throwing challenge where players flick the desserts up at enemies on the top screen. The game features 13 total stages, special attacks using the touch screen, the option to blow into the microphone to bring characters back to life, three side story mini-games and special items.
Ed, Edd and Eddy can't seem to stay out of trouble. In Scam of the Century, Eddy has lost his precious "Who to Scam and When" book. When the three friends realize their classmate Kevin has the book in his hands and an angry mob of kids has developed, they run for the woods. Splitting up to throw off the crowd, they plan to meet up back at the cul-de-sac. What they do not know is that several adventures await them on their quest home.
Players take control of the Eds and must make their way through tricks, traps, angry kids and a barrage of ammunition including soap and broccoli. Ed, Edd and Eddy finally make their way back to the cul-de-sac only to find the ultimate obstacle before them: Rolf has built a giant fort to keep the Eds out forever! Each Ed must use his own special talent to smash, brainstorm or scam his way inside. Once inside the fort, the Eds regroup to reclaim Eddy’s scam book. But standing in their way is none other than Jonny (Captain Melonhead) and Plank(Splinter The Wonderwood). Let the final showdown begin!
After the credits, a cutscene reveals that the entire game was a scam, and that the kids had to pay to be in the game. Edd points out that it was not needed, since the kids would have had to be in the game to begin with. Enraged, the kids attack and the Eds run away.
