El Universal is a major Mexican newspaper.

El Universal was founded by Félix Palavicini and Emilio Rabasa in October 1916, in the city of Santiago de Queretaro to cover the end of the Mexican Revolution and the creation of the new Mexican Constitution. The circulation of the print edition of El Universal is more than 300,000 readers and is considered one of the most influential and widely read newspapers in Mexico.

According to Alexa.com, the online version of the paper is ranked the second most visited news site in Mexico.[1] El Universal claims to have an average of more than 3 million unique visitors each month.[2]

Juan Francisco Ealy Ortiz is the current CEO and President of El Universal since October 23rd, 1969. Among the main contributors of this newspaper are widely renown journalists such as Raymundo Riva Palacio, Jorge Zepeda Patterson, Alberto Aguilar, Ricardo Alemán and Katia D'Artigues.

Aviso Oportuno is the classifieds service of El Universal. The brand has become widely known in Mexico, and the phrase Aviso Oportuno is sometimes used as a generic term for the classifieds business. This brand has four classifieds sites: Ve Casas, Ve Autos, Ve Empleos and Ve Varios.
