Elmer John Washburg was born in 1875 in New York to Andrew Washburg and Louise Jones. He lived in Carroll, New York before marriage. He married Nellie Anderson in the early 1890s and they had four children. They lived in Ellery, New York. Elmer worked first as a farmer, and later as a day laborer. Sometime in the 1910s, they moved to Falconer, New York and lived at 143 Falconer Street. Elmer worked at the Falconer Manufacturing Company in Falconer, New York. Elmer died there at work, of heart disease on September 16, 1925 at the age of 50.
