Her new studio album ‘Emotional Rollercoaster’ is said to be her best work yet. It has been produced by Brian Rawling who has worked with the likes of Tina Turner, one of Maria's Idols. This album is said to have taken her down a route which is more organic; more live, more edgy and more intimate and sounds like Tina Turner meets Whitney. [3]
The first single, "Breaking Me Down" is written by Michelle Escoffery, Steve Lewinson, Pete Lewinson and Maria herself. It was released in early September.
On May 22, 2008, a blog was posted on her MySpace page, confirming that her new album was finished and that it would be coming soon. It was on June 27, 2008, on her Myspace page, that she revealed the official album title. The album was recorded while Maria was pregnant. She has said that this helped her put more emotion into the tracks and made her vocals stronger.
Several clips of possible future tracks on 'Emotional Rollercoaster' can be heard at present on her official website.
The second single is expected to be either the track "In The Middle Of The Night" or "These Walls". Both tracks are written by Shridhar Solanki, Ali Tennant and Guz Lally. [4]
Maria performed her brand new single "Breaking Me Down" and songs from the new album 'Emotional Rollercoaster' at Party in the Park, Temple Newsham, Leeds on Sunday 27 July.
Maria undertook a radio and TV tour across the UK throughout August 2008.
