Enemy of the World is the third full-length studio album by American melodic hardcore band Four Year Strong, released through Decaydance and Universal Motown Records on March 9, 2010.[1][2]
"It Must Really Suck to Be Four Year Strong Right Now" is the album's first single, released in the iTunes store on December 21, 2009.[3] The title of the song is a response to a comment made by Scott Heisel of Alternative Press in a review of the Set Your Goals album This Will Be the Death of Us.[4] "Wasting Time (Eternal Summer)" became available for streaming on AbsolutePunk on February 11. It will be the album's second single.[5] "What the Hell Is a Gigawatt?" was made available for streaming on Purevolume on February 27, 2010.[6]
In February 2010, Four Year Strong announced what they named "the platinum of pre-orders", a list of novelty packages involving the purchasing of the album.[7] The vinyl record was made available to pre-order on March 2, 2010.[8]
The album sold 12,400 copies in its first week, debuting at number 40 on the Billboard 200.[9]
Reception
AbsolutePunk reviewer Drew Beringer was extremely positive in his review, saying Enemy of the World "is a pop-punk juggernaut" and tops their previous album Rise or Die Trying by far.[10] British site Rock Lifestyle published a similarly positive review with writer Liam Thomson calling Enemy of the World "one of the most genuine and astounding pop-punk albums in years" going on to say "there is so much enthusiasm, hope and heart here it practically leaks out of the speakers, unable to remain encapsulated on this hard plastic disc." [12] Music site Review Rinse Repeat sung "Enemy Of The World"'s praises as well by stating that it is "the front-runner to be the pop-punk album of the year." Writer Jerry also states, "As far as pop-punk is concerned, Enemy Of The World is as good as it gets."[13]
