From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Episode Six was a British rock group during the mid-sixties. The band wasn't well known but foreshadowed the arrival of Deep Purple in late 1960s. 'Episode Six' was formed in July 1964; in May 1965 Ian Gillan joined and the line-up became as follows:

Line-Up 'Episode Six' in May 1965 is:

  • Ian Gillan - vocals
  • Graham Dimmock - guitar
  • Tony Lander - guitar (born Anthony Barham, 10 August 1947).
  • Sheila Dimmock - keyboard
  • Roger Glover - bass
  • Harvey Shield - drums (born Harvey Schildkraut, 6 September 1946).

Episode Six released several singles on Pye Records in 1966 and 1967, and would have faded into oblivion had Gillan and Glover not gone on to join Deep Purple. The Episode Six song "Love, Hate, Revenge" was covered by the New Zealand Avengers in 1968 and was a hit on the New Zealand single charts.

The group then split up in late 1969.

This then led onto the formation of the Sheila Carter Band with members Alan Coulter (drums), Dave Lawson (keyboards), Tony Dangerfield (bass) and Tony Lander (guitar). After a brief period Sheila then teamed up withPeter Robinson,Mick Underwood, John Gustafson (ex The Big Three, The Merseybeats etc and another of Peter Robinson's Royal College of Music colleagues on guitar. This was a very early formation of the band we know as Quatermass.

Sheila later went solo and worked with various musicians such as Peter Walters and Tom Marshall (exHarmony Grass).
