Eric M. Breindel (1955-1998) was a former editorial page editor of the New York Post.[1] He was briefly married to Tamar Jacoby, in the 1980s. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, Harvard College and Harvard Law School before working in journalism.[2]
He died of liver failure, having suffered from health problems throughout adulthood, as a result of AIDS, according to Michael Wolff in his book Murdoch Exposed.
Paleoconservative Steve Sailer strongly critiqued him after his death, referring to Breindel's 1983 arrest for buying heroin[3], among other episodes,[4] but Lawrence Auster defended Breindel against Sailer's charges.[5] The Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in Opinion Journalism was established in his memory, sponsored by Fox News and the Wall Street Journal.
