Eric "Cowboy" Pettinger (b. December 14, 1904 in North Bierley, Bradford, England – d. December 24, 1968) was a professional ice hockey player who played 98 games in the National Hockey League with the Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Boston Bruins. When the Stanley Cup was redone during the 1957-58 season.

Pettinger's name was added to the Stanley Cup with 1929 Bruins. This is against an NHL rule. Pettinger was a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs the day Boston won the cup. This made him ineligible to be on the cup with Boston. Pettinger had been traded to Toronto January 8, 1929 for George Owen. He is the brother of fellow NHL player Gord Pettinger.
