Club career

His youth clubs were América-MG and EC Santa Tereza, then Cruzeiro was his first stop as a professional. Evanilson moved on 16 August 1999 (on this day he was officially presented) from Belo Horizonte to Borussia Dortmund, where he made his name as a right winger. Although Evanilson played in Dortmund up to 2005, his contract situation was not so clear: his compatriot Marcio Amoroso moved 2001 for 25,5 million euro from Parma FC to Borussia Dortmund; in return, Evanilson was sold to Parma for 17,75 million euro. Both amounts were netted from accounting reasons and Borussia transferred an annual rent of 250,000 euro. 2003 attacked a contractual clause with the Italians, so that Dortmund had to buy Evanilson back for 15 million euro. On 24 April 2005, Evanilson's contract was prematurely dissolved on the grounds of serious injuries (including cruciate ligaments) and he moved to Atlético-MG in Brazil. There his two-year contract was not fulfilled. Because of lack of salary payments (and subsequent court confrontation), his contract was dissolved and Evanilson moved to 1. FC Köln. There he signed a contract until the end of season, which was not extended. Then he moved to Atlético Mineiro, then Vitória, and finally to América-MG, where he started his career.
