ExpanDrive is a Network file system for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows that facilitates mapping of local volume to any SFTP server the user can access. The Mac version also connects to FTP servers and Amazon S3. When a server is mounted with ExpanDrive any program can read, write, and manage remote files (that is, files that only exist on the server) as if they were stored locally. It is commercial software. A 30 day, unrestricted demo is available for evaluation.

ExpanDrive uses MacFUSE as its file system implementation layer on the Mac, and a custom version of FUSE on Windows.

History

SftpDrive was the original version of ExpanDrive for Microsoft Windows. It was commercial software with a 6 week trial that received good critique online.[1][2].

In February 2009 SftpDrive was renamed to ExpanDrive.
