FC Suðuroy is a Faroese Football Association, which was founded in January 2010 and consists currently of the former VB Vágur (founded in 1905) and Sumba (founded in 1949), which merged in 2005 to VB/Sumba. FC Suðuroy has invited TB Tvøroyri and Royn from Hvalba to join the new football club, but until now those two football clubs from the northern part of the island Suðuroy have not accepted to merge with FC Suðuroy. FC Suðuroy's best team, Vodafonedeildin, will play their home games Vesturi á Eiðinum Stadium in Vágur. Other teams can play their home games either on Vesturi á Eiðinum Stadium in Vágur or on Krossi Stadium in Sumba.

Vodafonedeildin - Faroe Islands Premier League

VB/Sumba played in 1. deild (1. division, which is the second best) in 2009 and won the division. In 2010 FC Suðuroy therefore will be playing in Faroe Islands Premier League, which is called Vodafonedeildin.

Almost the same Team as VB/Sumba in 2009

FC Suðuroy will almost have the same team when they play their first season as the former VB/Sumba had when they won 1. Division in 2009. The well known defender Pól Thorsteinsson, who has played 37 matches for the Faroe Islands national football team,[1] stopped playing football on high level in 2009 after winning 1. division with VB/Sumba.[2] FC Suðuroy will have three football players from other countries in 2010. One of them is the goal keeper Stanislav Kuzma from Slovenia, the other two are both from Africa, Obi Charles is an attacker/striker from Nigeria, the other one is a defender from Ghana, he has not arrived yet (3 March 2010).[3]
