Nathan Wylde is the elder son of Mark and Natasha Wylde. He appeared in 2009 and left in early 2010.

Nathan and his sister, Maisie, come to the village for their father's birthday party. He takes a shine to Katie Sugden, and when he hears that she has a date with Lee Naylor, he delays him with questions about his work. Nathan - who attended agricultural college - helps run estate affairs. Nathan continues pursuing Katie, causing trouble between her and Lee by manipulating them. He is successful and, following a row with Lee one night, Katie invites him to spend the night with her. The next day, however, she catches him sneaking out and he admits that he doesn't want a serious relationship until he sees her reconcile with Lee.

Nathan works with Eric Pollard regarding Home Farm and assists his campaign to be elected as local councillor, getting to David via his girlfriend, Leyla Harding. He gives her a job, an advance for a new suit and makes a large donation to her mother's nursing home. Leyla finds out and asks him to withdraw it but he won't, making it clear what he wants in return. Disgusted, she returns the suit and leaves. She tells David and they confront Nathan, ending when Leyla throws water over him, saying that he needed cooling down. However, on 4 June, David Metcalfe is elected.

In late June, Nathan is annoyed about Lee moving in with Katie so he causes trouble again and Lee quits. Angry, she dumps Nathan and throws Lee out. Nathan responds by trying to sabotage her business so Katie says she is taking her business away but when this falls through, Nathan delights in upping the rent.

Nathan befriends Ryan Lamb, not realising they are half-brothers. Nathan isn't pleased when Ryan and Katie start dating but more distressed about his father's "affair", he goes to London for a while to clear his head.

Returning his attentions to Leyla in October, Nathan separates her and David by using his parents' contacts to get David more work. Leyla doesn't help matters when she borrows money from the petty cash and is caught when Nathan collects it early. He sees there is money missing but covers it up when Leyla confesses and starts charming her, taking her to exclusive work dos. They sleep together one night but Leyla feels guilty so Nathan blackmails her to take responsibility for him crashing a car while drunk. Struggling with her conscience, Leyla admits sleeping with Nathan to David, who dumps her, but hits Nathan for bullying her. Nathan's mother, Natasha Wylde, knows something is wrong and asks Katie, who tells her that David hit Nathan but Nathan twists it so Natasha blames Leyla. Angry at Nathan's manipulation, she visits him - telling him she won't quit and kicking him in the groin. Following that, Nathan is wise enough to leave Leyla alone.

In January, after his father's disappearance, Nathan takes over running Home Farm so Natasha can concentrate on looking after Maisie and Will. Nathan is furious to discover that Faye is, in fact, his father's 1st wife and Ryan is his half-brother, and that his mother knew for some time.

Within weeks, she decides she wants to own the pub and her father talks to Val Pollard about buying it. Val and Maisie try persuading Diane Sugden, to retire but Natasha calls off the sale when she finds out.

In March, she starts dating Andy Sugden, much to her family's horror - hearing gossip about Andy from Belle Dingle and Nicola De Souza - so she claims she is dating Marlon Dingle. However, she continues seeing Andy in secret until Debbie Dingle reveals the truth in the Woolpack so they date publicly. In mid-April, after a row with Natasha at a shooting party, Maisie moves in with Andy. By May, fed up with being expected to help on the farm, look after the farmhouse and Andy's daughter, Maisie ends things, returning to the pub until fellow lodger Sandy Thomas sends her back to Home Farm.

Maisie flirts with Cain Dingle, a relationship that intensifies, due to her parents' disapproval. Cain ends the relationship when Maisie has given him enough material to blackmail Mark. Attempting to forget him, Maisie goes on holiday with Natasha but Natasha returns alone, revealing that Maisie is having too much fun in Brazil to come home yet.

Maisie begins a secret relationship with Ryan Lamb, and seems to have genuine feelings for him. Their parents catch them as they are about to sleep together and tell them they're siblings. A sickened Maisie lashes out at everyone, crumpling to the floor as she realises that she almost slept with her half-brother. Comforted by Katie one night, she is devastated when she discovers Ryan is sleeping on Katie's sofa. Lashing out again, she accuses Ryan of wanting to rekindle things with Katie, telling him that they should be together. He tells her that they can't but Maisie doesn't listen. Maisie slips into a breakdown, leading to her drinking excessively at work. After Natasha had to identify a body believed to be Mark's, Maisie and Nathan had to explain Will that Mark is not going to come back, as he believes.

Mark and Faye meet in the woods and he gives her an expensive flat, hoping she will leave him alone.

In late May, Faye returns, asking about the job and learns that Mark and Natasha are renewing their vows. Faye confronts Mark, revealing that his real name is Daniel Lamb and he is, in fact, married to her - making his marriage to Natasha bigamous. He disappeared 27 years ago after his company collapsed, leaving them in serious debt. He moved to France and became Mark Wylde. Mark tells Faye that he did love her but not the way he loves Natasha. The next day, Faye attends the vow renewal ceremony, telling Mark that she only kept the truth about him to herself because she didn't want to hurt Natasha or his children. Faye continues to text Mark and they meet again in mid-June. She introduces him to their son, Ryan, who has recently moved in with her and has no idea that Mark is his father.

In late June, Natasha discovers that Mark has bought a flat and, on investigating, finds Faye. Faye tells her about Mark's past. Natasha is stunned but convinced when Mark admits it and ealises that Faye wants her husband back. Despite her anger and disgust, she stays with Mark, making him promise to keep this from their children. She then threatens Faye that she will tell Ryan that she has been lying about his father unless Faye stays away from them. When Faye continues to contact Mark, Natasha offers her a large financial settlement to leave or face being reported for insurance fraud. Faye demands £50,000 more than the original offer and on getting it, she and Ryan vacate the flat. However, in July, she and Ryan rent a cottage in Emmerdale.

Faye takes a job as PA at Sharma and Sharma, the new sweet factory in the village, and has a brief relationship with Cain Dingle. This ends, however, when Cain realises that Faye is using him to make Mark jealous. Mark realises that he still has feelings for Faye and tells her that he wants her back. She agrees, providing he leaves Natasha as she isn't prepared to be his bit on the side. They plan to run away together but realising the pain they will cause, change their minds and share a good-bye kiss, which Natasha witnesses. They then have a row, during which Ryan and Maisie come downstairs and announce that they are dating. Natasha tells them that they can't date each other because they are half-brother and sister, devastating Ryan and Maisie. Ryan is angry with Mark and Faye for lying to him and moves in with ex-girlfriend, Katie, until he can organise somewhere else.

Duration 2009–
First appearance 28 April 2009
Profile
Occupation Call Centre Worker
Residence Tall Trees Cottage

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Lakely is a friend of Lisa Dingle. She has appeared since 2009. The actress who portrayers her, Kitty McGeever, is the first blind actor or actress to be cast in a British soap opera.[3]

Lizzie met Laurel at community service. Laurel took pity on the blind Lizzie, and helped pay for her meal when Lizzie lied that she left her wallet on the bus. While in the village shop, Lizzie was reunited with old friend Lisa Dingle. When they caught Lizzie trying to put items into her purse, Lisa asked her to put them back, after which Lizzie accidentally pulled out the wallet she said she had lost. When leaving Laurel and Ashley's, Lizzie was taken by the police after not obeying her curfew.

Lizzie moved in with the Dingles, wearing out her welcome with Zak, and became known to those in the village. After initially supporting David Metcalfe in the upcoming Council election, Lizzie supported Eric Pollard when he paid her. She attended a Council function for the disabled with him, but it ended in them being removed by security when someone recognised her as a thief and pointed out her tag.

Lizzie attended the Wylde vow renewal reception, and belittled Marlon Dingle's catering, knowing he would offer to cook her another meal just to change her opinion. Marlon and Lizzie became friends, and Marlon asked her to move in with him at Tall Trees Cottage, much to the annoyance of his brother Eli. Eli was suspicious of Lizzie at first and even followed her when she went into town (to see where she got all the money he had seen her with) which angered Lizzie. Marlon discovered that Lizzie was the psychic that he had been ringing and asking for romantic advice (which as how she was making so much money), and made her give back the money he spent on the premium phone calls.

In August, Lizzie asked Jake to check a scratch card for her to see if she had won anything. However, Eli convinced him to stay quiet and split the winnings between them, as they both needed the money. Jake's guilt eventually got the better of him and he told Lizzie about her winnings. Eli professed to an angry Marlon that Lizzie could not really complain, as she was a scam artist herself. His words left Lizzie feeling guilty and reflective upon her behaviour. She and Eli did become closer, developing a roughly affectionate friendship. In July, Lizzie got a job cleaning for David's firm, but she quit in November, after making a serious error at the Sharma's factory.

On December 10 2009, Lizzie was walking home from the Woolpack when an upset Aaron charged past her on the bridge, accidentally knocking her to the ground and her bag into the river. Unable to see her attacker (who fled the scene) Lizzie assumed that she had been mugged. A guilty Aaron returned her bag, but did not confess to the crime. Lizzie remained shaken after the event, too scared to venture outside and Marlon and Eli became very concerned. They enlisted the help of Lisa to whom Lizzie confessed that she had been violently mugged a few years before and had secretly lived in fear ever since. This attack had brought all that back to her, but Lisa and Eli eventually managed to convince Lizzie to join her friends at the pub. In February 2010, Lizzie found a new job at a call centre in Hotten.

Sally Spode

Sally Spode
Emmerdale
Portrayed by Siân Reeves
Duration 2009–10
First appearance 27 August 2009
Profile
Occupation Unemployed

Sally Spode is a former girlfriend of Ashley Thomas. She has appeared since 2009.

Sally, a vicar's wife, first appears in August 2009. A former love interest of Rev. Ashley Thomas, he is surprised to see Sally married to Vincent Spode, a fellow vicar and Ashley's old rival. She reveals that she and Vincent have recently returned from doing some conservation work in Mozambique. Sally does not like her husband's boasting and the rivalry he shares with Ashley. At the cricket match, suggested by the Bishop, Vincent's team wins.

Sally later arrived in Emmerdale, revealing she had left her husband. She moved in with Ashley and Laurel although, after a few days, Laurel contacted Vincent in the hopes of getting the couple back together. Vincent arrived and confronted his wife, who broke down in tears and claimed he abused her. Angry, Vincent lashed out at Ashley, proving that he can be violent. Sally refused to call the police, claiming that all he has apart from her is the church, and if she calls the police, he will lose that. The same day, October 15th 2009, she decided to leave, believing she was causing trouble between Ashley and Laurel. The pair reassured her and convinced her to stay and that they would protect her if Vincent came looking for her again. It later emerged Sally was lying about the violence as a way of getting closer to Ashley.

On 5th November, Sally watched as an ember from the bonfire caught fire to Laurel's coat, only springing into action when she saw Marlon approaching. Sally appeared the hero when she threw her coat onto the flames. Laurel survived, but needless to say that was the end of her coat. A week later, during an argument with Laurel in the church, Sally locked Laurel in. Later, a heater set fire to a curtain and it soon spread, trapping Laurel. She couldn't get out as the doors were locked. Zak Dingle raised the alarm and rescued Laurel, who was rushed to hospital with smoke inhalation.

When she was sleeping, after being discharged, Sally was considering smothering her with a cushion until she was interrupted by Nicola knocking on the door. Laurel's suspicion of Sally grew in early December when she started piecing together details of the fire and did not remember locking the door or moving the heater so close to the curtain. She told Nicola what she suspected and the police, who refused to take her seriously. Even Ashley didn't believe what Laurel was saying, blaming her state of mind on the trauma of surviving the fire. On Sally's advice, Ashley contacted a psychiatrist for Laurel but Laurel threw Sally out. Later that night, Sally virtually admitted the truth to Laurel so she gave Ashley an ultimatum - either Sally left or she did. Laurel was relieved when she left but was furious when Ashley admitted she had only gone to Edna's. This wasn't good enough and, after another fight with Ashley, she packed her bags and left the village, with Gabby and Arthur. Gabby returned during the week for school.

Ashley clashed with Laurel's dad, Doug, over the incident. Sally stayed with Edna. Later, Sally made a pass at Ashley and jumped out in front of his car when he decided to leave the village. Having been knocked down, she was visited by Edna Birch and told her that she and Ashley had been sleeping together. On 27th January 2010, Ashley and Edna realised the lies that Sally had portrayed. Ashley threatened Sally that he would kill her if she didn't leave voluntarily. Later that day, Terry informs Ashley that Sally has left but he and Edna are shocked to find his house wrecked with 'burn in hell' painted on the wall but Ashley fears that it may be too late to save his marriage. On 15th of March, having previously taking revenge on several members of the village including taking Edna's dog Tootsie and stealing the church flowers. On 16th of March she got in to Ashley and Laurel's house and wrote the word "Ashley" in fridge magnets and threw a brick through Diane's car.
