Femoxetine (Malexil, FG-4963) is a psychoactive drug related to paroxetine that was being developed as an antidepressant by the pharmaceutical company Ferrosan in 1974. It functions as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Development was halted for unknown reasons, perhaps to focus attention on paroxetine instead.

In one online source, it is said that the dosage of femoxetine was much higher than for paroxetine.[1]

Jorgen Buus LASSEN invented femoxetine and paroxetine.[1]
