Fernando da Conceição Cruz (born 12 August 1940) was a Portuguese footballer. He played for SL Benfica as a left-back, from 1959/60 to 1969/70.

Club career

He won eight Portuguese Liga titles, in 1959/60, 1960/61, 1962/63, 1963/64, 1964/65, 1966/67, 1967/68 and 1968/69, and the Cup of Portugal, in 1962, 1964, 1969 and 1970. He played in Benfica's European Cup victories in 1961 and 1962, and in the lost finals of 1963, 1965 and 1968.[1]

International career

He had 11 caps for Portugal, from a 1–1 draw with England, on 21 May 1961, in a friendly match,[2] to his last game, a 0–2 defeat by Brazil, in Lourenço Marques, Mozambique, on 30 June 1968, in another friendly match. He was included in Portugal's squad for the 1966 FIFA World Cup finals.[3]
