^ Planet of the Apes is no such film.
^ Product Description A science-fiction series with an ecological theme, EARTH 2 only ran for one season on NBC, and all 22 episodes of the program are collected here.
The characters occasionally refer to "Earth-that-was", and the film establishes that, long before the events in the series, a large population had emigrated from
Earth to a new
star system in
generation ships:
[47] "Earth-that-was could no longer sustain our numbers, we were so many." The emigrants established themselves in this new star system, with "dozens of planets and hundreds of moons." Many of these were
terraformed, a process in which a planet or moon is altered to resemble Earth. The terraforming process was only the first step in making a planet habitable, however, and the outlying settlements often did not receive any further support in the construction of their civilizations. This resulted in many of the border planets and moons having forbidding, dry environments, well suited to the Western genre.

Malcolm reveals that he grew up on a ranch, and was raised by his mother and the ranch hands. The only other scenes of his past life that are shown are about the Unification War, in which he and Zoe fought for the Independent Army, the "

Critical review
The
Boston Globe described
Firefly as a "wonderful, imaginative mess brimming with possibility." The review further notes the difference between the new series and other programs to be that those shows "burst onto the scene with slick pilots and quickly deteriorate into mediocrity..."Firefly" is on the opposite creative journey."
[58] Tim Goodman of the
San Francisco Chronicle felt that the melding of the western and science fiction genres was a "forced hodgepodge of two alarmingly opposite genres just for the sake of being different", and suggested that calling the series a vast disappointment would be an "understatement".

.^ Just as I have not yet watched those remaining un-aired episodes from the DVD set I own.
^ It’s hard to believe that after 30 years BCI-Eclipse will finally release the complete series on DVD featuring all 15 episodes of this rarely-seen vintage 70’s Saturday morning show on 4 discs including audio commentary on two episodes “Phantom Planet” and “Countdown” with Filmation producer Lou Scheimer and stars Ric Carrott, Brian Tochi, Eric Greene, and Special Effects Supervisor Chuck Comisky, and hosted by Andy Mangels.
^ The three 2004 DVD sets collect all 79 episodes of the show, including “The Cage” in both a restored color version and the original, never-aired version that alternates between color and black and white.
.^ Nothing would completely satisfy this crowd except giving them the 16 episodes they were promised (and even then, satisfying them is far from a sure thing).
^ Also featured on the discs are galleries of publicity shots, episodic photos, show merchandise and of the photogenic Ms. Lund, and the MAD Magazine parody.
^ Burgess Meredith (himself a veteran of the original TZ ) provides narration; the widescreen DVD features no extras save for the original trailer and a remastered digital transfer.
.^ It would have sold 500,000 copies in a week.- Print Page - Game Name Clinic - I will rate your game's name 17 September 2009 7:13 UTC forums.tigsource.com [Source type: General]

Fox remastered the complete series in
1080i hi-definition for broadcast on
Universal HD, which began in April 2008.
[86] The series was re-released on
Blu-ray Disc on November 11, 2008, comprising three discs; exclusive extras to the Blu-ray release include extra audio commentary from Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk and Ron Glass for the episode "Our Mrs. Reynolds", as well as an additional featurette,
"Firefly" Reunion: Lunch with Joss, Nathan, Alan and Ron.

On March 12, 2009, the series was the winner of the first annual Hulu awards in the category "Shows We'd Bring Back".

.^ Special features are again bountiful, including audio commentary on all episodes, various featurettes, and five “directors series” entries devoted to particular episodes.
^ Eventually expanding to encompass five separate TV series, an ongoing slate of feature films, and a fan base larger than the population of many third-world countries, the Star Trek universe began not with a Big Bang but with a cautious experiment in network TV programming.
^ Directed and written by Joss Whedon, and based on the short-lived series.
.^ Pocket put out 8 Alien Nation novels and novelizations back in the day, so we had those to get over the cliffhanger when the complete series set came out a couple of years ago.
^ He takes the quite defensible course of focusing on those “normals” left behind, on the assumption that everything on the far side of the Singularity is unintelligible to us mere mortals.
^ Fortunately, the big-screen Serenity (which can be enjoyed independently of the series) ensured that Whedon’s wild extraterrestrial west had not seen its final sunset.
.^ With new and extended scenes carefully added back into the film, the 12-disc set also includes hours of bonus features.
^ The show’s sets are 90% CGI and shot in the same cutting-edge style as the feature films 300 and Sin City.
^ The film is set in the future, in a full-scale war between Skynet and humankind.
The mini-series were later published in collected form as hardback graphic novels.
