Flexing with Monty starring the late Trevor Goddard (Mortal Kombat, JAG) and the young Sally Kirkland (Anna, JFK) is set for release in January 2010.
The term “slightly behind schedule” takes on a completely new meaning with FLEXING WITH MONTY, the long-awaited dark horror/comedy/mystery by writer/director John Albo. The soon to be released feature film has deservedly acquired the accolade of being “in production” longer than any film ever made. Shooting started in 1994 and was finally completed in 2008 after a fourteen-year odyssey during which both the film’s male lead (Trevor Goddard), and the original producer died. Shot on 35mm film, FLEXING WITH MONTY has already achieved cult status among those who have followed its long and halting progress. Provocative in content and in style, the completed picture has been lauded by the likes of Sean Penn, Robert Downey, Sr. and Danny DeVito.
Trevor Goddard was a rising star in Hollywood when he died suddenly in 2003. He is remembered for his work across all genres, both on the cinema screen and on television. He was probably best known for his role as Lt. Cmdr. Mic Brumby in the successful television series Jag, and was a fan favorite as Kano in the martial arts film Mortal Kombat. He worked alongside Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and with Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie in Gone in Sixty Seconds.
In 1994, Trevor Goddard was cast in the lead role in FLEXING WITH MONTY alongside Oscar Nominee Sally Kirkland. The film was Trevor’s first starring role. In a strange twist of fate, it was also to be the last role he played, as he completed his final scene in the film only days before his death. The release of FLEXING WITH MONTY will serve as a fitting and heartfelt tribute to the late actor who put his heart and soul into this extraordinary film.
Street date for the Unearthed Films concurrent DVD release of the film is January 5 through its distributor, Breaking Glass Pictures.

A dagger productions presentation
John Albo's cult hit. 14 years in the making.
FLEXING WITH MONTY, written and directed by John Albo, deals with three unusual people trapped in a psycho-sexual game of their own making.
Monty, a physical education instructor at a local university, lives with his teenage brother, Bertin, whom he's raised alone. Monty's obsession in life involves his brother and his own body, a body that he's sculpted into the perfect physique. He compulsively works out every day... his flesh the altar on which he worships himself.
Into the brothers' lives storms Lilith, a mysterious woman. With her seductive head games, Lilith pits Monty against Bertin, forcing the two brothers onto a collision course.
What quickly ensues is a startling revelation... a revelation that unmasks the horrifying truth about Lilith, Monty, and Bertin.
