FoodCalc is a San Francisco, California web-based nutrition analysis software service company. The company is the only web-based nutrition analysis company that operates with on-site Registered Dieticians. FoodCalc’s web-based services provide nutrition information for the food manufacturing and restaurant industry.

History

The company was founded in 2003 by CEO Lucy Needham. It originated in San Mateo, California and has since relocated to San Francisco, California. In 2009, the California Restaurant Association chose FoodCalc as their endorsed nutrition analysis and menu labeling compliance partner.[1]

Products and Services

In 2003, LabelCalc was the web-based nutrition information product to be released by FoodCalc. LabelCalc is a web-based nutritional analysis software that provides FDA-compliant fact panels for food manufacturers and retailers. [2]

In 2007, FoodCalc launched MenuCalc, which provides nutrition analysis for the restaurant industry. This web-based nutrition analysis solution is used to generate nutrition information used for menu-labeling in restaurants.[3]

In June 2009, Meal-Builder was introduced as an interactive tool that calculates nutritional information for restaurant diners. Restaurant diners use Meal-Builder to customize nutritional calculations based on individual dining preferences.[4]
