Location in Queensland

The Fraser Coast Regional Council is a Local Government Area in Queensland, Australia. The Local Government Area was created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The new Council, located in the Wide Bay region, contains the entire area of three previously-existing but now defunct Local Government Areas;

The new local government area was not divided into wards and citizens of the new council elect ten councillors and a mayor during elections. The Fraser Coast Regional Council covers an area 7,125 square kilometres (2,751 sq mi), contains an estimated resident population in 2006 of 86,747 and has an estimated operating budget of AUD110m.

The Regional Council covers the cities of Hervey Bay and Maryborough and the towns of Aldershot, Antigua, Aramara, Bauple, Burrum Heads, Brooweena, Dundathu, Eurong, Glenwood, Howard, Poona, Tiaro, Tinana, Tinnanbar, Toogoom, Torbanlea and Tuan.
