Medical students spike the drink of one of their colleagues, accidentally putting him into a coma. One of the students (Arielle Kebbel) attempts to revive him using an experimental drug. The result has horrible and unintended consequences.
Although set in the United States, the film was shot on location in Belfast, Northern Ireland.[1][2]
The film received a limited cinema release and reviews of the film were generally poor. Rotten Tomatoes gave it only 8% based on twelve reviews.
Darrell Moen of the Examiner gave the film a positive review. He describes the film as a vehicle for actress Arielle Kebbel, noting her role in Red Mist gives her the chance to carry a film and that she is "brilliant". He commends the ensemble cast "who gelled to put on a really good show". The film is not without flaws, the concept requires a certain suspension of disbelief, and the premise starts out as another version of I Know What You Did Last Summer but rises from the slasher horror to more of a physiological thriller. [3]
DVD and Blu-Ray were released February 10, 2009.[4]
