Frederik Meijer (b. 1919 [1]) is the Chairman of the Meijer hypermarket chain in the Midwest of the US. Although a billionaire, he lives a modest life and uses his wealth to give back to the community.[2]
On March 19, 2009 Meijer's biography titled Fred Meijer: Stories of His Life was officially launched during a morning gathering at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. The book was written by Bill Smith, a retired Meijer vice president of marketing and advertising and Larry ten Harmsel, a retired Western Michigan University professor and dean of WMU's Lee Honors College. It was published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. of Grand Rapids.[3]
